Is Monday Girl for early career graduates or advanced professionals?

We’re not for new graduates or those in the early stage of their career. The intent behind our community is to build genuine relationships that are reciprocal. The Monday Girl platform was created to connect women who are navigating similar challenges to one another, so members can experience mutual benefit and provide mutual value.

Still, we’re always doing our best to help as many people as possible. So, if you recently graduated and would like to get a head start on navigating your career, be sure to sign up for our free Monday Girl newsletter in the meantime to get career advice, content recommendations, and more, delivered straight to your inbox weekly.

Want a peek behind the curtain? Here’s a conversation about what inspired founders, Rachel Wong and Istiana Bestari to build Monday Girl.

Rachel: When trying to navigate our careers, even as we climbed the ladder, we didn’t know who to turn to when things got tough. Let’s be honest, for many of us who are in our late 20s and early 30s, that middle stage of our careers can feel pretty lonely. It’s kind of like you’re the middle child. If you’re at the top, like in the C-Suite, for example, there’s no shortage of support, whether that’s company-provided training or access to expensive executive coaching.

Istiana: Plus, when you’re just starting out, the reality is that most of the leaders at your company will likely offer mentorship or at least a coffee chat…which brings us back to the middle of our careers. Suddenly, you’re trying to navigate huge leaps or decide you finally want to pursue a new industry and you feel like you have nowhere to turn.

Rachel: Or you just got promoted to a senior level position and you’re trying to manage other people managers for the first time. Obviously, without looking like you’ve never done it before.

Istiana: On top of that, we can’t forget the topic of family planning or caretaking, and how that might impact your big career aspirations. Let’s be honest, we all love our friends and family, but sometimes their career advice isn’t always the best.

Rachel: Of course, we’re Monday Girls, so we’re resourceful…but the more we Googled for the answers, the more overwhelmed we felt. It made me realize that most of the resources available online about career development were, quite honestly, ugly. Usually they were listicles that were gray and had ten tips, with tip number seven being “to assert your confidence”, whatever that means.

Istiana: So when I connected with Rachel, we came up with a vision to create a beautiful and safe space, specifically designed for the modern career woman.
