Is a Monday Girl membership worth it?

So you’ve scoured the Monday Girl reviews online, maybe even reached out to some members, and now you’re here. To help ensure you’re as informed as possible as to what a Monday Girl membership entails before you commit, here’s a little bit about us, our mission, and our platform.

Consider this your official Monday Girl Reddit review.

Why we started Monday Girl

Monday Girl was born out of a feeling of loneliness we experienced when we arrived at the middle stage of our careers. We spoke to many of our friends in their late 20s and early 30s and they seemed to share a similar sentiment. They all felt unable to access any guidance and support as to how to navigate the next phase of their professional development.

Conversely, it seemed to us like everyone in other stages of their career had an array of resources at their fingertips. For example, people in the C-suite or at the top of the corporate hierarchy, had no shortage of access to development opportunities in the form of company-funded training or the resources to pay for expensive executive coaching.

Equally, those just starting out seemed to have a totally booked networking calendar. They were either attending events put on by their college or university or going on coffee chats with leaders they reached out to on LinkedIn or within their company.

We all joked about the middle career stage being neglected and forgotten — you feel like you’re enduring a kind of middle child syndrome in your professional life.

For starters, you’re trying to navigate huge leaps in your career, pivot industries, or you just landed that huge promotion to VP and you’re trying to figure out how to manage people for the first time without looking like you’ve never done it before.

On top of all that, there’s also trying to balance family planning — if that’s something you want to pursue — with your big career aspirations. We wondered: how do you optimize your professional development and simultaneously meet your personal goals?

It turns out we weren’t the only ones feeling like we had nowhere to turn and no place to go to have open and honest conversations with like-minded individuals. We felt like there was no dedicated safe space to vent to colleagues and we worried that having a conversation with a boss would be held against us and negatively impact our career trajectory.

Of course, we could talk to our friends, who were always supportive and often shared the same feelings, but they couldn’t necessarily offer any helpful advice since they were navigating the same challenges and questions.

This led us to building Monday Girl membership: a platform where you can build genuine connections with other mid to senior women leaders (and marginalized genders).

It’s a place to ask questions, share recommendations, celebrate wins, and generally overcome feelings of loneliness by being among Monday Girl members who just get it.

Monday Girl members are a diverse bunch and we’re committed to making our platform as expansive and inclusive as possible. Still, our memberships aren’t necessarily meant for everyone. So, let’s dive into who Monday Girl memberships are best for before you apply.

Monday Girl members are…

  • Mid to senior-level women with at least 5 years of professional experience

  • Millennial and Gen Z professional women

  • Current leaders or aspiring, next-generation leaders

  • Often in Marketing, Tech, Operations, Product, Human Resources, PR, Communications, Policy, Finance, Consulting, Sales, or Design or entrepreneurs with a side hustle trying to grow their business

  • Ready to commit to attending events, networking, and regular engagement — we recommend spending at least 2 hours per week leveraging your membership via Slack, virtual or in-person meetups, and scheduling Office Hours with mentors

  • Passionate about empowering and supporting others and feel like you can deliver value (ex: sharing advice and participating in conversations)

Monday Girl members are not

  • Very early in their career or new graduates with less than 3 to 5 years of experience

  • Coaches or business owners looking to use the platform and community to self-promote or make sales

  • Typically not in fields like the Health Sciences or Mechanical Engineering — while we’re working on increasing representation to include more industries, professionals in certain fields may not currently experience as much value from our platform

You get what you give

Monday Girl members who are active on our Slack channel, participating in conversations, booking office hours, and showing up to events, are the ones who are making connections, landing new opportunities, and building genuine friendships.

Ultimately, like everything else, the more you put in, the more you’ll get out of the Monday Girl membership. ‘

This doesn’t have to be burdensome. We suggest simply setting up a recurring weekly time block in your calendar called “Monday Girl time” to check in with Slack, book office hours, RSVP to new events, or simply check out a resource or play a video while you eat your lunch!

We hope to see you on the inside.
